December 22nd, 2009 by nwcta in Uncategorized · No Comments

Hey Hawks….2010 is coming fast and I want our library blog to be bigger and better than ever! I know this first semester’s blogging wasn’t very exciting, but I want to make this blog work and comments to fly in so fast I can barely keep up with them…and we can’t do this without you!

So let us know what you want to see in our library and on this blog! I’m willing to give it my best shot to make it work, and I need you guys behind me to do so! I hope we get some comments soon on what we can do to make this blog a heck of a lot better than its been.

I really appreciate all of your help and support, Hawks! We couldn’t do it without you!

Beating the Winter Break Blues

December 22nd, 2009 by nwcta in Uncategorized · No Comments

Hello Hawks :)

I’ve pretty much spent the entire winter break (so far ;) ) being bored. But there is one thing that made it a heck of a lot better…books :) .

So for all of you bored and stuck Hawks out there (like me :) ), here’s a list of books I recommend highly:

The Vampire Academy Series by Richelle Mead (Vampire Academy, Frostbite, Shadow Kiss, and Blood Promise…I just got ahold of Blood Promise yesterday and I am very excited!!!!! By far this series is much better than Twilight, in my opinion :) )

Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher (just bought this one yesterday too…haven’t read it yet but heard from some of the people I see in the library on a daily basis that it is an amazing book :) )

Wake by Lisa McMann (it wasn’t everything I was expecting but it was still a good book)

Beastly by Alex Flinn (now this is an extremely good book!)

The Adoration of Jenna Fox by Mary E. Pearson (this one is a good twist on a classic story that all authors use in their books…i loved it)

The Book Thief by Markus Zusak (this is like my all time favorite favorite book!!!!!!!!!!!!)

The Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling (nothing like snuggling down with a classic!)

That’s pretty much the extent of what I’ve read lately…but if you stop by your public library, I’m sure you’ll find more recommendations and help to find yourself an amazing book.

And make sure when you’re done, drop us a comment! We like reading good books too :)

It’s official! We’re gone from butterflies to apple pies in this month’s highlight of the culinary program here at Northwest.

So if you happen to be one, know one, or wish you were one, now’s the time to find out more about them and what they do by checking out any of the books in the front of the library.

All of the books are cook books, but you’ll still want to check it out because pretty soon we’re going to be putting some stuff in the display cases in front…I can’t say what it is yet but I guarantee you that you’ll be suprised!

So stop by the library in November and try out those recipies for your Thanksgiving dinner today!

NWCTA Nascar

Check out our totally awesome Nascar the Transportation kids are working on!

I must admit, that is pretty cool :)

We’d like to hear from you guys more about it, because I bet not a lot of students are aware of what exactly is going on with the Nascar. So if you’re in Transportation and are reading this, comment and let us know what’s up!
